FAQ

I have been prescribed with Prozac to reduce the symptoms of depression I usually experience (particularly in the mornings). However after using these drugs for the past weeks I haven’t seen an improvement, shall I stop using these tablets?

No, it is essential to carry on taking the medication the doctor has prescribed to you. It is important to remember that drugs can take between 4-6 weeks before you see an improvement in your health. However, if you are really concerned then I strongly advise to see your local GP as they may provide more specific anti-depressants according to the symptoms you seem to be displaying.

My daughter has been feeling very low after she failed her A-level exams, I have tried to encourage her to look optimistically towards the future however she refused to listen, what shall I do I feel helpless watching my daughter feeling depressed right in front of me?

I’m sure this must be a difficult time for you however as you haven’t indicated how long she is experiencing this low mood I am unable to define whether she is suffering from unipolar depression or not. However if this low mood has been present for over two weeks then I strongly advise you to take her to your local GP where she may be prescribed with medication to lower the symptoms she seems to be expressing. Try bringing her friends round in order cheer her up as psychological therapy is an effective way of treating depression.
